the children of wayfinders
[Sora has known since childhood that all stars are really other worlds, their presence in the night sky signifying that things are right in the universe. he's always wondered if other worlds shared the same belief, if anyone else truly knew that they were all connected under the same sky.
the twinkling flying object whizzing through the sky above Motunui, though, is definitely not a shooting star, which becomes all the more apparent once whatever it is starts to lose altitude and eventually half crashes, half touches down on one of the island's many beaches. he may come from an island himself, and yes, he'd had plans of grandeur once upon a time of sailing on a raft for the sake of exploration, too—he's even had a couple of years worth of piloting it, but he's still not exactly an expert navigator, Gummi Ship or not. who keeps letting him drive the thing??
he's coughing a little as he pops the cockpit of the multicolored, slightly submerged ship and hops out to survey the damage. the ship is smoking slightly, but at the very least it's still all intact. rubbing the back of his head as he tears his eyes away from the wreck to glance at his surroundings, he mutters to himself,]
Hope no one saw that...

......................hey look at what i forgot about
shooting stars is not a foreign thing to moana. when she saw it falling, she made a quick wish... and then very quickly realized that it is not, in fact, a shooting star. the closer it gets, the less sure she is of what it is. still, without even stopping to think, her legs move, chasing in the direction that she's certain it's going to land.
she skids to an abrupt stop as she predicts the trajectory, reaching the area at almost the same time when the gummi ship crashes. it takes her a moment to regain her balance, and she takes a second to congratulate herself for not falling on her face. but the moment is cut short because, you know. what. ]
What the heck is that?
i honestly dont remember how i intended this thread to go
still, he's not sure exactly how much he can tell the newcomer about his multiworldly mission. nor is he sure how exactly to explain what the gummi ship actually is? to just give her an answer as quickly as he can, he ends up stammering,]
Uh...a really advanced raft?
[who is this poor boy trying to fool.]
neither do i
The last time I checked, rafts don't fly.
[ she blinks, and then folds her arms over her chest, smirking. ]
Although I guess you did more falling than flying.

I mean... airships exist! Why can't air-rafts?
[he is trying so hard, but not all disney world inhabitants can be as dense as, say, the residents of wonderland.]
no subject
[ she tilts her head, frowning.
they definitely do not exist here, bud. ]
Is that what this is? An airship?
no subject
K...inda! This is like a mini-airship. Real, full-sized airships are way cooler, like actual warships and stuff. —Not to say that the Gummi Ship isn't cool, but there are different levels, you know?

[ she repeats it, walking over to the wreck and. well, poking at it, of course. what else would she do when some unknown technology shows up on her lawn? ]
And what exactly are you doing here with this ship of yours? Besides crashing.
no subject
Uh... exploring?
[he says it with just enough hesitation that it does sound kind of suspicious... though it's also the kind of tone that someone who has no idea what they're actually doing would use.]
no subject
That really doesn't tell me much.
[ her tone is less accusatory now though, like the wheels in her heads are really starting to turn. a strange boy just dropped out of the sky in technology she's never seen before. even the way he's dressed is... odd. ]
What are you exploring? Were you trying to reach this island on purpose?
no subject
[that part actually isn't a lie.
now, though, he's trying to weigh the pros and cons of expanding upon his mission... at this point, the knowledge of other worlds has become commonplace, hasn't it? as much as the king tried to emphasize otherwise, he's seen no lasting repercussions on the worlds he'd helped save after their residents were made aware that their worlds were far from the only ones out there.]
—I'm Sora, by the way.

Moana. And this is my island. [ ... ] I mean, not my island, I don't... own it or anything. But I live here. So it's mine.
