[ as much as marie would like to continue being sentimental, that's not exactly her style. no, she revels in joy, in festiveness, and that's where she shines most brightly. releasing her hold around jeanne, she claps her hands together in delight as an idea comes to her. ]

Oh! Would you like to do something special to celebrate your arrival in Chaldea? We can have a girls night, and you can tell me all about what I missed in Orleans! Master has already told me what happened, of course, but I'd like to hear your version, too. Plus, I can make us cake!

[ Jeanne is much more sentimental in her own way. Marie's energy and bright cheer help to direct her away from lingering too much on old feelings and she has to smile herself. She nods enthusiastically at the suggestion and clasps her own hands together. ]

I should like that very much. You'll forgive me if my memory is a little hazy, but I shall do my best...

[ of course marie would plan for something like that. her selfless nature never allows her to be the sole beneficiary of her actions. logic would dictate that causing jeanne to actively recall her time in orleans should help jumpstart her memory, wouldn't it? with that, she holds out her hand for jeanne to take. ]

Come, ma cherié. Let's go to my room.

I'm sure it will, Marie.

[ Jeanne looks at Marie's hand, then takes it with a gentle blush to her cheeks. She's starting to remember how affectionate and enthusiastic Marie is and it's not unpleasant. It's really very much the opposite, but Jeanne isn't used to such exuberance most of the time! Jeanne lets herself be tugged along to Marie's room, quiet and thoughtful. ]

Isn't it strange that we get a second chance?

It is strange, yes...

[marie can't deny that. surely, there were many other souls across time and space who also deserved a new life. but the throne of heroes establishes that there's a difference between mundane heroes and those who were actually capable of affecting history. it's a sad truth, and marie's heart cries for the family she'll never see again, the retainers she'd grown up with, the people of her country who came centuries after she'd been executed.

... but she also does not like to dwell on such sad topics, nor does she wish to harbor feelings of guilt for things that aren't her fault. so, with a smile, she continues,]

But I prefer to think of it as a blessing! The future of humanity is depending on us, non? To save the world, I would accept third, fourth, and fifth chances if there's anything I can do to help. Don't you feel the same, Jeanne?

[ Jeanne isn't sure she deserves the chance. She was just a girl, a girl doing the work of God. Surely there are others more deserving or others who have done more for the world aside from her. And yet here she is with Marie. Her dear Marie. She bows her head a little, looking solemn. ]

It was heavy enough when it was France and now it must be the whole world? All of humanity? Of course I will do everything I can. If I can help, I will. It's my duty, isn't it?

[ Her hands twist in front of her, clutching each other. ]

We must do what we can. I just don't know if I am worthy of such consideration.

[when jeanne tenses, marie reaches out to join their hands together. her voice is calm and soothing, stroking jeanne's shaking hands to try and dispel the insecurities and anxieties the maiden seems to still harbor within.]

Your presence here in Chaldea proves that you are worthy, ma cherié. Your courage helped ensure the future of the country we both love. In a way, maybe I wouldn't have existed if you hadn't left your mark upon history... and I might not have had the chance to be with you now.
