easily. they're both magnets for trouble, really, so lightning's not all that surprised, when it comes down to it. what she hadn't expected was the red eyes. the sharp teeth. the claws that sprouted in place of her fingernails.
it's all pretty annoying, when it's all put together.
shame about that craving for souls, though. ]
Doing alright, Vanille?
forgive me and dont feel like u need to reply ;_;
what she hadn't ever expected, though, was to go home, be human again, and then be forced to go through the monstrous changes again. she knows, kind of, what it's like to be a gargoyle, but being a fae is so much harder. for instance, it's with a strained grimace that she answers lightning, like it's almost physical painful for her to try and weasel her way out of expressing her true feelings.]
As all right as we can, you know?
[she could at least lie as a gargoyle. that helped keep things in the realm of comfort, of safety. she doesn't very much like this change at all.]
latches onto you!!
and right now, they need all they can get. still, lightning sighs, her hand twitching. where the claws have freshly sprouted, there's pain, an itch she can't scratch. she's tried--they've ended up bloody and raw. ]
Yeah. [ simple, quiet answer. being a demon is, quite literally, a pain. ] You're taking this well. Better than most.
[ it's a quiet urging. vanille's hiding something, and she's not sure what it is. but she'd certainly like to know. ]

she should have learned when she lied to fang about their focus, all that time ago.
she keeps her face straight, but her wings subtly flutter—she hasn't quite learned how to control them yet. the light speckled fae wings are more twitchy than the heavy draconian gargoyle ones.]
It's nothing I'm not used to. I mean, remember when we were being hunted all across Cocoon? The only difference is this time... we actually are the monsters people think we are.

but there are some things here that startle even her, catch her off-guard. lightning looks to vanille, eyes searching her face for what might be a little too long. ]
You sure that's the reason? I'm used to that, we all are, but even I get surprised here and there.

Well, the changes have definitely been surprising... I hadn't expected this, after all.
[...at least that one for sure isn't a lie. she gestures to her chest, tapping at it with a claw. she has since abandoned her form-fitting halter top, replacing it with a plain baggy shirt that's more akin to a burlap sack. even with the fashion change, though, the fang-filled mouth she now tries to hide can still be seen through the cloth.]
