What a surprise—Joshua knows exactly what's going on, while I run around looking like a dumbass. [he sighs.] I thought Shibuya was your city, not "Traverse Town." What, did you get bored?

Is this not the dream Neku? He's got a different feel to him, sure, but... Joshua doesn't even know what to think, just jumps down (and floats gently because ofc he does, the asshole) from where he is, just staring at Neku almost... warily?]

[it's neku's job to be shocked when joshua pulls some shit on him, not the other way around. he crosses his arms as josh descends from the lamppost, eyebrow raised.]

[here? real? it's not like the neku he brought here was fake, but this is... shibuya's been gone long enough that even just seeing a neku who isn't bound to joshua's dream is throwing him for a loop. which is why he actually finishes his thought:]

[of course that doesn't mean he's explaining himself anymore than usual, just staring at Neku in continued shock]

[that's... a weird thing to say. just like usual, joshua's throwing some cryptic bullshit at him, but... there's none of the usual teasing or mocking in his voice. there might even be some hint of real emotion in his reaction, which throws neku off his own game. slowly, uncertainly, he replies,]

Un...less you're keeping any more memories from me, I think I am.

[the idea of tiki is so far from his mind it doesn't even register, though it should, considering they're both dreams. instead, he's talking mostly to himself, even though he's addressing neku]

[once again, he glances at the town around them. it gives off an ethereal feeling, like it both exists and does not. he's starting to show hints of frustration, even though it's clear joshua is just as confused as he is.]

[he looks around them. what happens if the dream neku meets this neku? does the dream neku still exist? what happens with shiki if he doesn't? it's not like the rules of the game fully apply, but they're so intricate to his powers he couldn't drag any bit of them without it. what does this neku's presence even mean, for shibuya?

josh can't even bring himself to dare to hope it's back. he'd wanted to pull the plug on it himself, and the second he decided against it--

and he should really be concentrating on neku, right now, so he turns back to face him with a slow blink]

I guess the short of it is that you're in my dream. Or... the world of it, anyway.

[it's almost unsettling, to see joshua out of his element like this. it's very unlike what he's learned of shibuya's enigmatic composer in the few weeks they'd had together. he may not know that shibuya's heart's been taken, that its essence had been put to sleep, but he knows something is wrong.]

[there's a definite deadpan look in his eyes as he's reminded of tiki, but he doesn't comment on it. instead, neku's question about "real" is... hm.]
